South by Southwest gives visitors from around the world an opportunity to visit Central Texas and experience amazing music, film, and interactive content. Each year during the event, we have a large number of visitors who also come to see us in Lockhart (the Barbecue Capital of Texas) to try some of our delicious Texas barbecue. This year, in celebration of SXSW 2010, we are offering all visitors between now and Sunday, March 21st who mention SXSW to our cashiers a 10% discount on their entire meal. Whether this is your first trip to Lockhart or we’re part of your annual visit to SXSW, we look forward to seeing you at Black’s this week!

We had a great time last Sunday at the Gettin’ Sauced: Texas BBQ Sauce Contest which was hosted by our friends over at Man Up Texas BBQ. There was live music, cold beer, and some delicious barbecue sauces from all over Central Texas. The results were announced this past week, and Black’s Barbecue is excited that we placed several of our sauces in the top 10 of both judges’ and peoples’ choice:

• Norma Jean Black’s Barbecue Sauce: 4th place, judges’ panel
• Pepper Sauce: 7th place (tied), judges’ panel
• Chipotle Mustard Pepper Sauce: 4th place, peoples’ choice

Black’s Barbecue will be participating in the Gettin’ Sauced barbecue sauce competition on Sunday, March 7th in Austin. More details about the competition are available here. We’ll be featuring our original Norma Jean Black’s Barbecue Sauce, our new Pepper Sauce, and our new Chipotle Mustard Pepper Sauce at the event. You can try all of the sauces before the event by picking up one of our Sauce Combos either online or at the restaurant in Lockhart.

Special thanks to our friends over at the Man Up Texas BBQ blog who are putting on the event. They have done an excellent job spreading the word about Texas Barbecue throughout Central Texas and worldwide, and we’re looking forward to this being the first of many competitions amongst Central Texas barbecue restaurants.
