A Happy Customer from Galveston

April 5th, 2010 12:22 PM by Christopher Kuehl

We received the following note from a customer in Galveston, Texas who learned about us on the Travel Channel’s Barbecue Paradise show. Watch our segment from the show on the Videos page of our site and then pick up some barbecue from our Online Store.

Thanks. My order arrived today. I am very pleased with how well it was packed and how quickly it arrived. I was expecting it no earlier than Thursday or Friday. It was mailed the 14th and I got it the 15th.

This is my first try @ Black’s BBQ. I’ve been to Lockhart a few times and had BBQ elsewhere, not knowing about Black’s. I learned about you from watching The Travel Channel. Glad you have a website and I can have it shipped to Galveston.

A Great E-mail: “Oh My God!”

April 5th, 2010 11:33 AM by Christopher Kuehl

We recently received the following e-mail from one of our shipping customers and thought that it was the perfect way to start out our series of Testimonials that we’re going to begin featuring on our blog. We always love hearing from our customers, and welcome you to e-mail us at info@blacksbbq.com. Be sure to let us know if we can feature your message on our blog, and thank you again for your business!

Subject: Oh My God!

This food is sooooo delicious, my eyes were rolling out of my head after eating the pork ribs and then on a subsequent day, the brisket.  Everything is so tender.  Meat falling off the pork ribs, I confess I was full before I finished eating the first rib, but continued to eat two more of those heavenly porcine ribs. The taste was so delicious, i just overate.

Next, I’ll be trying the three varieties of rings (sausages).  Will report as I go along.

If you like bbq without sauce drowning it, you’ll love this food!

Happy in the afterglow of Blacks,
I am,
Maureen

Food Wars Misses Strong Competitor

March 23rd, 2010 9:00 PM by Kent Black

Loyal Black’s Barbecue Fans,

This evening, a new episode of the Travel Channel show Food Wars will begin airing. The focus of tonight’s episode will be Lockhart barbecue, but one of the strongest competitors in Lockhart (that’s us!) will notably be missing from tonight’s show. When we first learned about the show taping earlier this year, we were bummed to find out that it would be focusing specifically on the family rivalry between Kreuz and Smitty’s. We had lots of crazy ideas float around our team, including showing up at the Courthouse Square the day of the final competition to enter as a surprise third contestant. In the end we opted not to go that route, so you won’t see us featured on this evening’s show.

Starting this past weekend, we began to receive e-mails and speak to people at the restaurant who wanted to know why one of the best barbecue’s in Texas wouldn’t be represented. “I’ll be watching,” one fan told us. “My wife and I, my sister, and my dad will all be in front of the tube to watch the competition suffer,” writes another. In the end, any competition that spotlights the delicious meat being served here in Lockhart every day is a win for all of us in our community.

For those of you visiting our site for the first time today, along with those of you who have been away from Lockhart for too long (more than a day or two), we do want to extend a discount to you for any orders placed through our Online Store. Use coupon code FOODWARS anytime through the end of the year to receive 10% off your online order. You’re only a couple of days away from tasting some of the best barbecue Texas has to offer.

Do you want to voice your support for the Travel Channel including us in their next visit to Lockhart? Simply leave a comment in response to this blog post. We’ll compile them and pass them along to the producers at the Travel Channel. Maybe we’ll even get an opportunity to battle the winner of tonight’s Food Wars in the ultimate showdown of Lockhart barbecue. :-)

Thanks as always for your support,

Kent Black
